Itinerary

Day 1 - A Gentle Gateway into the Happy Kingdom

Arrival: New Jalpaiguri Railway Station / Bagdogra Airport – Phuentsholing

On arrival at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport, you begin a scenic drive through the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas towards Bhutan’s border town of Phuentsholing. This peaceful journey sets the tone for the days ahead, with lush greenery and fresh mountain air welcoming you into the Kingdom of Happiness. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and unwind after the journey. The rest of the day is kept relaxed, allowing you to acclimatise and enjoy your first evening in Bhutan at leisure. Overnight stay in Phuentsholing.

Day 2 - From the Plains to the Capital of Calm

Phuentsholing – Thimphu

After breakfast, you complete the Bhutan entry formalities and biometric permit process at Phuentsholing before heading towards the capital city, Thimphu. The drive is a visual delight, winding alongside rivers, forested hills and charming hamlets—perfect for relaxed photo stops along the way. On reaching Thimphu, you settle into your hotel and later enjoy a gentle stroll or leisurely shopping in the town, soaking in the unique blend of tradition and modern Bhutanese life. Day 3 - Across the Sacred Mountain Pass to the Valley of Kings

Thimphu – Punakha / Wangdue Sightseeing

Today’s journey takes you over the stunning Dochula Pass, one of Bhutan’s most scenic mountain crossings. At the summit, the 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens stand in serene symmetry, believed to bring merit and peace to all who visit, with panoramic Himalayan views on clear days. Descending into the fertile Punakha Valley, you visit Chimi Lhakhang, the revered “Temple of the Divine Madman,” known for its blessings and tranquil surroundings. The highlight of the day is the majestic Punakha Dzong, beautifully located at the confluence of two rivers and regarded as one of Bhutan’s most important and picturesque fortresses. Check in to your hotel or resort and enjoy a peaceful evening in Punakha/Wangdue.

Day 4 - Culture, Faith and Scenic Vistas

Thimphu Sightseeing – Paro

After breakfast, you explore the cultural heart of Thimphu, starting with Kuensel Phodrang (Buddha Dordenma), where a massive golden Buddha overlooks the valley, offering a deeply calming and spiritual experience. You then visit the National Memorial Chorten, a place of prayer and quiet reflection, followed by the Folk Heritage Museum, which offers insight into Bhutan’s traditional rural lifestyle. Later, enjoy sweeping views from Sangaygang View Point, visit the historic Changangkha Monastery, and see Bhutan’s unique national animal at the Takin Preserve Centre. Before leaving Thimphu, admire the grand Tashichho Dzong, the seat of Bhutan’s government and religious authority. You then drive to Paro for an overnight stay.

Day 5 - Icons of Faith and Bhutanese Heritage

Paro Sightseeing

After breakfast, the day is dedicated to exploring Paro’s most cherished landmarks. Guests may choose to visit the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang Lhakhang)—Bhutan’s most revered site—dramatically perched on a cliff high above the Paro Valley, symbolising spiritual devotion and enlightenment (subject to physical comfort). Alternatively, opt for a relaxed city tour starting with Tachogang Lhakhang, followed by the National Museum (Ta Dzong), housing priceless Bhutanese artefacts, and the impressive Rinpung Dzong, an architectural masterpiece that once defended the valley. The day concludes with a visit to Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most sacred temples, radiating peace and spiritual warmth. Overnight stay in Paro.

Day 6 - Farewell Views of the Himalayas

Paro – Phuentsholing

After breakfast, you begin your return journey to Phuentsholing, retracing the scenic Himalayan route. The drive offers yet another opportunity to admire Bhutan’s pristine landscapes—rolling hills, flowing rivers and quiet countryside. You stop at scenic points for photographs and a relaxed lunch en route. On arrival, enjoy a leisurely evening in Phuentsholing, reflecting on the serene experiences of the journey. Day 7 - A Heart Full of Memories

Phuentsholing – NJP Railway Station / Bagdogra Airport

Entire journey on the river cruise was amazing. This is the first such cruise dinner for my family. We loved everything, right from table organising, food, music and the hospitality. Kudos to the entire team !
